RE: Legislative Activity

DATE: 8-15-97

Enclosed please find a DRAFT of the Bill regarding the Home Study Program that Representative Carolyn Hugley of Columbus FAXED to me on Thursday, 8-14. Please disperse among fellow SSW'S. This draft is a result of our meeting with Representative Hugely [sic] in Macon in early July along with Jim Bell and Dr. Aleem J. Hud. Rep. Hugley stated that because of the climate she and other legislators are experiencing with parents that have Home Study Programs, she feel [sic] this probably is the best that might pass if we are lucky.

To all district chairs please distribute this survey to all social workers in your district and ask them to return the completed form to you by the end of the first week in September. We would like you to tally the results and return the summary to us. The purpose of this survey is to collect hard data for Rep. Hugely to support our position in the legislature.

Rep. Hugley informed us that she will need as much information, (letters, case documents etc.) that [sic] we can provide. So please continue to have social workers send those documents to her. She also said the committee hearing on Home Study Programs issue will be held in early fall and she would like for school social workers to be present. Those of us who are willing and would be available for this hearing please submit your name, address, and phone numbers to Rep. Hugley at her state office listed below:
