PDK Survey Disclosure Violation

[News page]
11-17-97 The PDK (Phi Delta Kappa) association in Hall County, led by Assistant Superintendent Massey, has written a survey with the help of local homeschoolers. PDK plans to use the survey in a research project on homeschooling and asked for HEIR's opinion on their survey. HEIR expressed concern for the types of questions on the survey which seemed to presuppose a school-at-home philosophy and questions which seemed to probe homeschooler's compliance with the law. PDK has intended to mail these surveys to everyone in the 9th district and superintendents in several counties have already given PDK the names and addresses of homeschoolers from their records. HEIR believes that this violates O.C.G.A. Sec. 20-2-690.
