HEIR Life SupportHEIR is an open and inclusive volunteer organization, providing information to and voice for the broad community of homeschoolers in the state of Georgia.HEIR maintains a web site providing current information on political and legal issues of concern to homeschoolers (http://www.heir.org), as well as contact information for support groups around the state and a bulletin board. HEIR is active in monitoring the legislative process, and in developing position papers on legislation that might impact homeschooling in Georgia. HEIR is a frequent contributor to educational sessions at curriculum fairs, and provides information on a variety of homeschooling issues. |
HEIR has provided leadership in challenging the School Social Workers when they attempted to change the homeschooling law (HB586), in challenging the new admissions policies for the University System of Georgia, and in forming a statewide Coalition to work toward improving USG admissions policies. As a volunteer organization, HEIR depends upon donations to fund the web site and the expenses associated with correspondence and providing materials for elected officials. HEIR has initiated a membership dues, as a way to fund ongoing operations. Anyone making a donation of at least $12 will be considered a dues paying member of HEIR for the calendar year 2000. Leon F.
