Cherish Home Educators' math club has met twice a month ever since last fall. The problems have been tough, but the students' hard work has paid off. Team members and parents were estatic when the Cherish team was announced as the winner of the Clayton-Henry-Fayette Chapter winner in the 2005 MATHCOUNTS competition in February. Brian Anderson, Jacob Bleth, Jamison Bryant and Billy Dorminy were the elements of the set of winners, and Ann Dorminy is their coach. Billy Dorminy made the highest score in the Chapter as well. They will progress to State competition in March.
MATHCOUNTS is the premier middle school math competition in America. Over 150,000 students participate nationwide, and about 1000 here in Georgia. For more information, see www.mathcounts.org.
