Savannah Wetzel was awarded an Academic Scholarship, which was upgraded to the Honors level, upon completion of competition with other scholars. She had consistently scored well on SAT's and ACT's, and submitted her essay for selection.

Savannah had begun home schooling in the third grade, and completed course work for graduation June 1999. She was selected for WHO's Who Among American High School Students. She has received certification in the past by the Red Cross in First Aid and the American Heart Association in CPR(in fact she ended helping to teach the course). Summer l998 was spent with Teen Missions International, on the Brazil Clown Team, on the Maderia River. Summer 1999 saw her working with TMI again, this time in the Ukraine on a TNT mission. She has served many volunteer hours working at the Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge near Folkston, GA; Recreation Director for First Baptist Folkston VBS for 2 years; Assisted with numerous children's programs at the church and participated as a youth leader. Last year she was an AWANA leader for Pal's.

Savannah had applied to, and was accepted with little problem at most of the colleges she applied to, with the exception of University of Georgia Schools. She had been recruited by GA Southern, until they found that she was home schooled. She was also recruited by the Army, Air Force, and the University of Alabama, who seemed to have no problem with the fact that she had home schooled.

Savannah has also been very active in Dance the past two years. She was an assistant teacher the past year, and a student teacher the year before. She plans continue studying Ballet, tap, jazz, and latin dance as she works toward a degree in Kinesiology from Liberty.
