House Ed. Comm. Hears About H.B.586

[News page]

UPDATE: This bill never went beyond a second reading in the House Education Committee.

On December 10, the House Education Committee held a hearing to consider Rep. Carolyn Hugley's substitute HB586. The hearing was attended by a large number of homeschoolers, and during the first two hours, there was coverage by several Atlanta television stations.

Both GHEA and HEIR participated in the hearing, with presentations by Ken Patterson (Director, GHEA), Dewitte Black (representing the HSLDA members in Georgia), and Leon McGinnis (Chair, HEIR). The following links will provide more information about the hearing and its results.
