1997 House Bill 586

Here is a summary of the house bill imposing new restrictions on homeschoolers.

Parent must have baccalaureate degree
Tutors must be GA-certified
Re-worded standardized testing section - local principal may allow testing at school
Progress assessment reporting twice as often (semi-annually)
Required for local superintendent:
Portfolio with contemporaneous log
Curriculum and lesson plans
Immunization records
Vision and hearing test results
Evaluation by parent-chosen GA-certified teacher
Probation and remedial instruction if fail evaluation or test
No molesters nor abusers of children nor spouses
Effective July 1, 1997
