1998 General Assembly: Homeschooling News

[News page]

The 1998 session of the Georgia General Assembly opened on January 12.   From this page, HEIR will report what we learn about activities under the gold dome that affect or may affect Georgia's homeschoolers.  If you learn of something you think is important, but has not been reported here, please contact us!

Old Legislation:  bills left over from the 1997 session.  Some may still see action.

New Legislation: bills introduced in the 1998 session.

Other News of Interest

1.  HB 586, by substitution, was "officially" presented to the House Education Committee in a hearing on December 10.  Supporters and opponents of the bill testified at some length.  A complete report can be seen by clicking here. (UPDATE: This bill never went beyond a second reading in the committee.)

2.  February 5 is "Capital Day" for homeschoolers.   Sponsored by GHEA and TeenPact, this event will draw large numbers of homeschoolers to the capital.  For more information, click here.
