Home Education Information Resource (HEIR) began today to offer an on-line facility for public discussions of homeschooling issues. Calling it "HEIR Dialogues," Leon McGinnis, volunteer President of HEIR, indicated that such a facility has been long awaited by HEIR supporters and said that "the BBS is in direct support of a part of HEIR's mission: 'promoting dialog within the homeschooling community'".
HEIR's volunteer VP and Webmaster, John Sewell, said that the new service is available from the Opinion section at http://www.heir.org/, HEIR's web site. Said Sewell: "We're very pleased to finally offer this service, now made possible because of our recent move to a new ISP. For those who browse our site, we promise and we warn that we'll have little time to edit the site. Offensive or off-topic posts reported to our BBS administrator may be deleted as time allows. While we do not expect much offensive posting on a homeschooling site, the Internet is wide open and we have no control over the rare person who might stumble upon the HEIR site and post something offensive. Parental guidance is suggested, just in case."
Sewell also pointed out one of HEIR's principles is that "All individuals, regardless of religious beliefs, race, national origin, educational methods, or homeschooling status, who wish to advance HEIR's mission are welcomed to participate."
